CUT-OUT DEMONSTRATION
€r. C. Herring and A. T. Lassiter will conduct a cut-out demonstration on “killing hogs” at Sperryville Locker Plant beginning at 10 a.m. 'Saturday, December 1, to show desirable methods in cutting out and curing pork on the farm. Plans are to have three large hogs on the grounds; two will be of approximately the same weight of which one will be overfat and the other of desirable finish, the third hog will be a heavy weight—450500 pounds. Also, the cut-out demonstration will be on carcasses from hogs of size and finish similar to those on foot and will show the comparative production costa on a pound of pork basis when feeding to a 200-225 lb. liveweight as compared to feeding a hog to 400-450 lbs. liveweight. Mr. Herring will also discuss curing of pork on the farm.
With production costs high and swine prices low, it is hoped that the public will take advantage of this demonstration and come see and hear what these men have to offer. >It makes no never-mind whether you are fattening one or a carload of hogs or butchering 20 bead or but one—come; we’ll be glad to see you.

A. T. Lassiter, Jr., associate animal husbandman of VPI, was ht Psppplwsifmfr county Friday, November 10, scoring the Sears-Roebuck Foundation gilts with Assistant County Agent, Bill Seville.
Commented Mr. Lassiter, “Again 1 think you have one of the best Sears projects that I have seen since I have been in Virginia. All of those boys are certainly interested in their project and, too, they must have their father or grandfather backing them.”
Although your scribe has not seen the projects in any other Virginia county, he agrees wholeheartedly that our boys are doing a fine job with their Poland China gilts. By “our boys” we mean: Melvin Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Williams; Bradley Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Williams; Herman Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Williams, Jr.; Ranny Settle, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Settle; and Joe Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Williams.,
