The apple juice for the breakfast beverage was donated by the Blue Ridge [Fruit Growers Coop. Inc., at Sperryville, Rappahannock County. • "

Highlights on the two day program included a welcome address by T. Nelson Parker, Mayor, City ' of Richmond. Mr. J. W. Sargent, | Assistant Regional Director, Soil • Conservation Service, Spartan- / burg, S. C., addressed the convention on the matter of “Assisting Districts With the Technical Job of Soil and Water Conservation.** The Honorable John S. Battle, . .Governor of Virginia made a few remarks relative to conservation and stressed the importance of getting conservation on all Virginia farms.

The dinner speaker was Walter S. Davis, Jr., President, National Association of Soil Conservation Districts, League City, Texas. Mr. Davis outlined some of the accomplishments of the many Districts in the country. He stressed the importance of keeping the control of basic and permanent conservation programs at the District level in the hands of local farmers.
