Excellent Standing
According to the report of the audit for the county of Rappahannock for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1952, an unusually high percentage of taxes have been collected. The report discloses that “During the three year period ending June 30, 1952, the average collections of current taxes amounted to 94.75% of the average tax levy. After delinquent taxes collected during the same period have been taken into consideration, it may be observed that the average collection of l»oth current and delinquent taxes equaled 99.73% of the average tax levy.”
The above record has been achieved at relatively little expense to Rappahannock. There are only two counties in the State in which the Treasurer’s office costs the taxpayers less to operate than does Rappahannock’s.
