When school began in September seventeen green hands were initiated, and the dreaded initiation didn’t turn out so bad after all. Also in September the boys and the F. H. A. girls attended the Richmond Fair.
One of the senior boys, Douglas Martin, was elected secretary of the Northern Triangle Federation Club.
The Forestry Judging Team composed of Douglas Martin, Wilbert Pullen, Kelly Updike ancl Nelson Williams, proved to be very successful by placing second. The boys earned money for themselves by picking poplar seeds in the fall. They earned money, for the club by selling Christmas cards. The club put out $64 to buy lumber for the boys to work with in shop cla^s. The F. F. A. boys enjoyed several basketball games with other schools. This spring the boys did a nice job cleaning off the town playground. They also did several jobs for people in the community, like refinishing old furniture, ect. The F. H. A. and F. F. A. gave a joint dance to secure money for camp, which proved to be successful with $84 clear money. The l)oys gave a dance to secure money for the Rally and picnic. J. T. Dwyer, Kelly Updike and Nelson Williams attended the Rally at V.rtl. They proved to be an excellent judging team.
The annual picnic was given in honor of the F. H. A., the Seniors, and the teachers. Around one hundred I people enjoyed the picnic after which square dancing took place. The president, Kelly Updike, deserved his medal of Star Farmer Degree which he received this year.
