Hawkins Home Destroyed
By Fire Wednesday
A fire of undetermined origin completely burned the home of James Hawkins, between Laurel Mills and Rock Mills, Wednesday morning. When the Washington and Amissville fire companies reached the scene, the fire had spread to the nearby woodland.
As the paper goes to press Forest Fire Warden Raymond Johnson and a crew of volunteer tire fighters are still fighting theraging fire.
The home and personal belongings of Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins and their ninechildren, ranging in age from six months to 14 years, destroyed by the fire.
