Painting the interior of the Sperryville School has added to the attractiveness of its appearance as well as giving it a higher tone of cheerfulness.

The upper grades of the Sperryville Elementary School are taking part in a conservation contest and in fire prevention week by making posters. Mrs. Keyser’s six grade will present a program on “Fire Prevention" this Friday.

The Sperryville Elementary School has an enrollment of around 350.

Mrs. Reynolds, third grade teacher, is absent from school due to illness. Mrs. Lucio Kilby is substituting in her absence.

The total enrollment at Rappahannock High School is 344, with the individual classes as follows:

1 — 26; 2 — 34;3 — 33; primary department—93.

2 eighth grades — 65; 2 ninth graides — 73; 10 — 35; 2 eleventh grades — 48; 12 — 29; 1 post graduate; high department—251.

Mrs. Cox’s third grade won the attendance record for September with a high percentage of 99%. The school’s attendance was 95%.

Daniel Coughlin has returned home after a three-week visit with relatives in Washington, D. C.
