CLASH TOMORROW
IN FRONT ROYAL
The flood lights will shine down on a grid clash between the Warren County High School’s Wildcats and’ the Strasburg Rams tomorrow night as the area’s 1954 football season opens at Front Royal’s Bing Crosby stadium in a •benefit game for the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
Reports indicate that both teams, following 2 weeks of practice, are rounding into shape forthe contest which is scheduled to begin at 8:30.
Sponsored by the Blue Ridge Shrine Club, which includes groups from Front Royal, Winchester, Strasburg, Marshall, Luray, New Market and . Shenandoah, proceeds from the game will go to the support of the 16 Shriners hospitals throughout the United States. Edwin H. Stewart, chairman of the Shrine committee sponsoring the event, points out that nearly 200,000 children have been helped through the hospitals, since the first one was established in 1922. “With them all the way’; . is the motto of the hospitals a declaration of faith, service and sacrifice in behalf of every lessprivileged crippled boy and girl, regardless of race, color, or creed, who enters any of these Shriners homes/’ * * A pre-game1 parade at 7:30 will feature the Acca Temple Shrine , Band from Richmond, the Luray High School Band, and the Warren County Higl# School. Band in addition to others that-have been ' invited. ' , , Tickets are on sale in Front Royal at Smith’s Better Men’s Wear Store, Blue Ridge Restaurant and the Park Gulf Service Station.
