With one exception, all of the states indicated that they had received no appreciable mcrease in yield from the use of subsoiling or deep tillage implements. Research material is available from other states than those which we contacted which has been reported in various scientific publications. We are giving below certain of the information representing the good and the bad which was used as a basis of our conclusion.
Woodruff and Smith in a study of subsoil shattering and the use of lime and fertilizers on the shattered subsoil have reported the re suits given in the following table for the 5 year period 1943-47.
