Honored At Shower
— A miscellaneous shower was given at “Sunstroke Manor,” the home of Mrs. H. B. Winfrey, on Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Jim Bill Coates, who before her marriage was Miss Betty Lewis Snead. Tables and chairs were arranged on the lawn where Mrs. Coates, in her charming way, opened and displayed her numerous gifts which consisted of silver, chin% crystal, linens and various other' things. The large assemblage of relatives and friends from all parts of Rappahannock 'were served punch and cookies by the joint hostesses, Mrs. Mary Botts Quaintance and Mrs. Brown Miller during the hours from 2 until 4 o’clock.
Rev. G. M. Profitt and family returned September 1st from their vacation- in New England. They report a fine vacation was enjoyed by all the family. They visited various -points . ofinterest, also spent one day on an ocean steamer enjoying the sea breezes. They passed through the hurricane which did so much damage in Rhode Island and Massachusetts'.
