Mrs. Julia White * of Pittsburgh, Pa., has announced the engagement of her son, George L. Fletcher of Pittsburgh, Pa., to Miss Fannie L. Fletcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Fletcher of Washington, Va.
Games and a weiner roast will be held at Pine Knot Inn this Friday, September 10 at 8 o’clock. This occasion is for the benefit of the First Baptist Church and the Monarchs Baseball Team.
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Carter left Saturday for Washington, D. C. where they will join Rev. and Mrs. R. C. Davis to attend the National Baptist Convention in St. Louis, Missouri.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hunter of Culpeper .received word that their son, A/3c Thomas Hunter, Jr., landed in Amoville, Texas where he will attend school for 20 months.
Misses Margaret Hunter and Ann Hunter spent Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Starks of Rapidan.
Mr. Harold Gibbs and Ann Hunter were in Gordonsville on Thursday.
