Qatterbuck Home
Fire destroyed the Roy Clatterbuck home in Whipperwill Hollow near Washington at dusk, _ Thursday, leaving Mr. and Mrs. ^ Clatterbuck and four sons with only the clothes on their backs. Springing from an overheated cook stove, while the boys were preparing supper, the fire quickly spread, gathering speed when it reached the asphalt shingles.
In Washington, the townspeople saw a cloud of smoke hovering over the W. F. Moffett property, and noting the darkness of it, thought it to be from a brush fire. The alarm, however,-was soon called in an3 the, Washington Volunteer Fire Department rushed to the scene. Though unable to save the house, the firemen prevented the fi’-e from reaching outbuildings and from escaping into the woods,
