53 Bands Invited To
Front Royal Parade
Harry Parker co-ordinator of bands and musical units for the Front Royal 1962 Pre-Christmas parade, announced that 53 invitations to bands and selected drum and bugle corps have been sent out. Additional invitations are being sent daily. Parker stated that musical units in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania have been invited. Cash prizes for bands, as far as can be determined, are the largest ever offered in this area. First-place band will receive $200; secondplace band, $100; and thirdplace band will receiye $50. First place for a drum and bugle corps is $75; second place, $50. Bands that are not permitted to receive cash awards should they win will be given appropriate trophies. According to Parker, Warren County bands will not compete for prizes. The largest number of bands ever to appear in Warren County is expected for the Pre-Christmas Parade to be held November 30 at 7:30 p.m.
