Roland Welch of Flint Hill dropped by the office last week to report his son, Bill, has a nice litter of purbred pigs from his registered Yorkshire sow. You farmers needing a top herd sire in the future, here is your chance to buy at home and help a 4-H younrster as well as your self. Roland said Bill plans to sell five of the boars and one of the gilts.
With a well established market at Culpeper Enterprises, feeder pig production is a growing enterprise in Rappahannock. What better way could you get started than with first class breeding stock?
It appears Rappahannock Angus Calf Sale could suffer from growing pains in ’63. While growth indicates progress and stronger prices, around 1300 head seems to be the maximum that can be handled efficiently in a one-day-delivery. Other sales which have grown beyond this number have had to receive calves two days before the sale. Since our sale is held on Tuesday, where does this leave us?
To be more certain whether our sale will be above 1300 head next fall, a questionaire has been prepared and sent all consignors requesting they report by return mail what they expect to put in the sale next year.
