Allocates Funds for
Massies Corner
Tentative allocation of funds totaling $136,952, 864 for future work on the interstate, primary and urban highways was made by the State Highway Commission last week. The Culpeper Highway District, which includes Rappahannock County, will get $24,760,603 of the funds. A supplemental allocation of $150,000 is earmarked for reconstruction of the intersection of U. S. 211 and 522 at Massies Corner. Surveys of this intersection were made early last year. This intersection has been a traffic hazard for many years. Though.the approach to the corner is well marked, numerous accidents have occurred there, apparently because of the abrupt approach over a hill.
Allocations for Culpeper and other districts in Virginia were based on estimated revenues of 209.6 million dollars in state funds during the fiscal year be, ginning July 1.
