Livestock Survey
To Be Made
County Postmasters announced today that Rural Mail Carriers and Star Route Contractors will begin distributing June 1, 1963,Livesstock Survey cards to farmer patrons on their routes about May 21. Your Post Office assists the Department of Agriculture each year in making this and two other surveys. Livestock cards returned by farmers to their carriers will be mailed direct to the Virginia Crop Reporting Service in Richmond. Information from each card, if properly reported, will then be tabulated and combined with other reports to give indications of changes in livestock on Old Dominion farms. These indications will be used to establish estimates of the 1963 calf crop lamb crop, wool production, and spring pig crop as well as plans for fall farrowing. So next week if you find in your mailbox a card titled “Livestock Survey, June 1, 1963,“ don't put it aside.lt is important that you return the card for your farm since only a given number of farms will receive these cards, and your community will be represented according to the number of cards returned.
