Skiing is rapidly becoming one of America’s most popular winter sports. In northern climes skiing always has drawn its quota of fans. In -recent years interest has spread over virtually the’ entire nation. There are ski clubs in cities Jn east Texas, The members Ihmually make a pilgrimage or two to the ski runs of the Rocky Mountains by chartered plane. With the widespread increase in skiing there has come a consequent increase in ski injuries. Exact figures on skiers injuffed e'ach day are hard to come by, but studies at individual resorts have shown that about three of each 1,000 skiers on the slopes each day likely will get hurt. On days when skiing conditions are poor the ratio sometimes mounts to as high as 13 injuries for each .1,000 participants.
