Escaped Convict
Captured Sunday
A convict who escaped Friday afternoon from a road gang working near Flint Hill was apprehended Sunday morning just outside of Front Royal and returned to the prison camp at Culpeper. According to authorities, Reginald- Anderson, a 24 year old negro from Abingdon, escaped about 2 p. m. while working on Route 628 two miles west of Flint Hill Friday afternoon. Efforts of the state and local police proved fruitless in the* search for the escapee. Anderson was apprehended at 11:20 Sunday morning on Route 522 near Front Royal after police received a call saying a colored male was seen coming out of the woods on Criser Road. Front Royal officers and sheriff’s department took the convict into custody and he was returned to Camp 11 at Culpeper. Anderson was serving eight years on charges of statutory burglary and malicious wound ing.
Rev. Vaughan
To Lead Revival
The Reverend Ledford C. Vaughan, Sr. will be the guest minister for a week of revival services at Sperryville Methodist Church from May 4 through May 8. The services which will begin at 7:30 p. m. will feature guest choirs on several evenings. Rev. Vaughan is an old friend to Rappahannock County having served the Rappahannock Charge from 1942 through 1946 when it consisted of seven churches. He and his wife presently live in Crozet, Virginia where he is pastor of the Crozet Methodist Church. The hand of fellowship is warmly extended to the public to share in this week of experience.
