Charges Made
in Barn Fires
Woodrow Wilson Nicholson of Flint Hill was charged Fri day with the malicious burning of two barns on the Donald Read farm near Flint Hill. One barn was destroyed by fire on Saturday, Feb. 1 and a second barn on the same farm burned Saturday, March 28. According to authorities, Nicholson, who lives on the Read farm, denied knowing anything about the fires when questioned. He however, made a confession after taking a polygraph test. Nicholson is in Rappahan nock County jail awaiting a hearing April 28. Bond is set at $5,000 on each count.
Hearing on Ordinance
Amendments Friday ~
A public hearing on proposed amendments to the subdivision ordinances of Rappahannock County will be held Friday, April 24 at 10 a.m. in the Courthouse, Washington.
These amendments, were proposed for adoption by the Board of Supervisors at the March board meeting on recommendation of the local Planning Commission.
At the hearing Friday, any person for or against the amendments, may express his views or ask questions concerning the ordinances.
Rummage Sales To Be Held During May
Washington Ladies Auxiliary to the fire company is again sponsoring rummage sales each Friday and Saturday during May. The sales will be held in the basement of the post office building from 9 a. m. until 5 p.m. The auxiliary is eager to have any salable articles which you do not want or need. They may be left with Mrs. W. B. Jenkins, or contact any member of the group to pick them up. Since this is cleanup week for the Town of Washington, make a clean sweep and donate unwanted articles for the rummage sale.
