Accidents Reported
A single car accident occurred Saturday, April 18 at 2 p.m. near Massies Cob* ner on Route 211. Robert Jullien of Falls Church lost control of his 60 Pontiac station wagon when he ran off the right of highway. The vehicle veered back across the road, tore down a fence on the Massie farm and ran down the left embankment. Damage was estimated at $300 by Trooper P. P. Dicks, who investigated the accident. Tuesday, April 21 a minor accident occurred at 3:45 near Baldwin’s Store, Washington. When a school bus stop, ped to unload children,'a second car stopped behind it and vwt hit in the rear by another vehicle. * ■
The first car, a 62 Chevrolet driven by Louis White Waggaman of Baltimore, Md. was struck by a 61 Chevrolet coupe owned and operated by Manuel Arteca Garcia of the Brazilian Embassy, Washington, D. C.
There were no injuries and damage was estimated at $250 and $100 respectively to the two vehicles. A two-car accident which occurred Sunday afternoon, April 19 on Route 231 was reported by Trooper W. A. Buntin. A 1951 Chevrolet sedan owned and operated by Donald Ray Carpenter of Brandy Station was struck in the side by a 61 Volkswagen as Carpenter made a left turn onto Route 707. Ernest C. Killingsworth of Gaffney, S. C., owner and operator of the Volkswagen, was taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital by Culpeper Rescue Squad with lacerations and abrasions of the forehead. Gladys Fincham, a passenger in the Carpenter vehicle was also taken to Culpeper Hospital with abrasions of the forehead. Carpenter was charged with failing to yield right of way by Trooper Buntin. Damage to the vehicles was estimated at $600.
