Marsh, Jr., said tonight that, •the pace and complexity of international developments bearing heavily on the future security of the United States place a special responsibility on young citizens to inform themselves fully as to the potential consequencies of the day's disturbing headlines** •The young people of ability we like to call ‘leaders of tomorrow* must move into the lead today in the critical field of self-information on world affairs,* the 7th District Congressman declared. He spoke at a Charter Night banquet of the Rappahannock County Jaycees at Panorama on the Skyline Drive. . “We have been startled in recent days by the news of bold forays of communist terrorists in Vietnam, including the sabotage at dockside of an aircraft ferry of the United States Navy, but we must be prepared for a succession of such incidents,* Marsh warned. •More important, every taxpaying citizen of this country, whose dollars are helping pay the huge bills for our involvement, and who may find a loved one obliged to risk his life in this faraway land, should understand why we are there, and why we may have to stay for a long time,* he said. The Jaycees, “as civic-mind, ed members of the community have here a great opportunity for local service of national importance*, Marsh emphasized, *as a well-informed public will be better-able to withstand the- strains of the future*. •Moscow and Peiping are confident we will grow tired erf the worldwide struggle to defend free peoples,* Marsh said, •and we cannot permit lack of understanding of our national objectives and responsibilities to prove them right.*
