Many farmers have learned that keeping adequate records of farm income and expenses is a necessary part of their farming operation. They know that correct tax returns cannot be filed if they do not have r e c”o r d s to determine their exact profit or loss during the year.
Even though many farmers! know that it is good business to maintain accurate records there are large numbers of farmers who have never bothered to do so. Some of them have been asked to furnish their records when they filed a claim for social security benefits. If they had no records, they were required to obtain proof of their Income and expenses. This caused considerable delay in processing their application for social security benefits.
