very comprehensive report on the eyesight conservation activities of the club for the past year. Besides the usual contribution to the Old Dominion Eye Bank there were several hundred pair of oldeye glasses collected. Ten people received examinations and glasses through the efforts of the club. Membership was discussed and it was generally conceded that to meet all of the requirements more working members were needed. Lion Nichols, however, noted that on a per capita membership basis, the Rappahannock club’s accomplishments rated one of the top positions. Even though, membership wise, the club hasn’t grown since its formation six years ago it has lasted longer than any civic club in Rappahannock county. A resolution was unanimously passed to keep the Lions on the go toward bigger and better things for the good of the community.

Amissville Fire Co. Saves Dodson House
The house of Jack Dodson near Amissville was damaged by fire Friday, May 29th. Smoke was discovered coming from the eaves of the building and Amissville Fire Company summoned. Damage was kept at a minimum with only one window-facing and portion of the wall burning plus a mattress.

Daily Vacation Bible School it Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church is scheduled for June 8 :hrough June 12 from 9 until 11:30 a.m. Preparation Day and a'parade will be held Saturday, rune 6 at 2 p.m. Commencenent exercises will be Friday, rune 12 at 8 p.m.
