Bikes should always be ridden on the right hand side of the road. The same laws apply to a bike rider that apply to an auto driver. Our youngsters have to be at least 15 and pass a test before they can get an auto drivers permit, yet our 6,7, and 8 year olds can ride a bike on the highway within minutes after they learn to balance a twowheeled vehicle. I for one, would like to see Bike Riders permits made a requirement.
Extension Agents
To Attend School
It will be back to school this summer for our Rappahannock Extension Agricultural Agents. County Agent W. H. Lyne, will be enrolled in a course on Production Economics at V.P.I. June 8th20th, while Assistant County Agent, Arlis Frymyer, will take a course on Developing Youth Programs July 22nd August 12th. Both courses will be for graduate credit and are to be held at V.P.I.
Lyne explained that this schooling is a part of the Extension Services personnel requirements In professional improvements. Each course carries three hours credit at an enrollment fee of $10.00 per credit hour. Other agents from Northern Virginia Extension District, who will attend the farm management course along with Lyne are: Richard Beck, Roy Heltzel, Bill Trenary and John Wolfe of Stafford, Culpeper, Prince William and Frederick respectively.
Carl Gerfcen. Assistant Agent of Frederick County is the other worker from this area who will be enrolled in the course on Youth Programs. Lyne concluded that while these courses will conflict with several summer events planned by local Extension personnel, there is never a two week period that some events aren't scheduled and that such events must be held regardless. Lyne will miss the wool pool and Northern District 4-H Horse Clinic while Frymyer will miss 4-H camp, and our Forestry camp. Other agents of the district will be called upon to pinch hit on these occasions while our workers are brain storming!
