Never place aerosol cans on, stoves or in any hot place — . especially in the direct sun. Aerosol products left in the trunks of autos have been known to explode when the car was left in the sun. Always avoid use of flammable sprays around fire or spark sources. In tests, spray vapor has caught fire, shooting flames seven feet out of the mouth of the can. One woman, using hair spray in a closed bathroom where a water heater was operating, was burned to death by the Ignited hairspray vapors. Before discarding an aerosol can, always depress the operat-, ing valve until all pressure is relieved. Then discard the can for assured garbage haulaway, never into trash subject later to be burned.
