Most swarms of honey bees were quite weak last spring. Several swarms were reported to have died, as late as in May! I grant pollination weather was not the best as is evidenced by our light crop of apples, BUT strong bees will buck unfavorable weather a lot better than weak ones. Also they will visit a lot more blossoms. Arrangements are in process to have John Amoss, the "Bee Man’ conduct a demonstration on Winterizing Bees the latter part of this month. You might try holding Sept. 21st, 24th, 25th, 28th, 29th or 30th open. Will let you know as soon as possible.

A Farmers Tour of the Piedmont Research Station at Orange will be held Sept. 22nd starting promptly at l:30p.m. Experiments to be shown and discussed include: corn varietal tests, corn fertilization, soybean varieties and management, forage materials, (mixtures and management) and sugar beet trials. Will be happy to have 3-4 farmers go with me but must leave office by 11:15 a.m. as the 22nd is "Broadcast Day” for me.
