Awards Made at Ruritan Supper
The public supper held Saturday night by the Amissville Ruritan Club was well attended with an estimated 200 people enjoying the ham and turkey and accompanying vegetables. The door prize, a small pressure cooker, was awarded B. James Moss of Castleton, who also not the RCA television
prizes went to W. J. Carpentey Warrenton, a pressure cooke^ Harold Hart, Ruckersvllle, a case of motor oil; Jack Woodard, Amissville, 5 gallons of oil; Elsie Clatterbuck, Warrenton, transistor radio.
259 Bears Bagged Last Season
Virginia hunters bagged a total of 259 bears during the> 1964-65 season. The highest kill was in Augusta County where 44 were taken followed closely by Rockingham with 41. Sixteen of the bears were killed in the Dismal Swamp area and the rest were bagged in the western part of the state. This was a decided drop from the 375 record total bagged in the state last year, but the decrease was predicted by biologists on the basis of reduced mast and previous fluctuation data.
