Irvine
A funeral service for John Woodward Irvine, 62, of Newport News, was held Sunday at Culpeper Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Fairdew Cemetery. He died Friiay, Sept. 3, 1965 in a Newaort News hospital. Mr. Irvine vas a native of Culpeper Coun:y- :ySurvivors include his wife, Laura Lee Anderson Irvine; i daughter. Mrs. J. V. Torbert, of Lynchburg; a brother, William M. Irvine, Jr., of I.omoard, 111., and two grandchiljren.

Miss Virginia Jenkins with her brother and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. George A. Jenkins of Culpeper gave a surprise birthday party Sunday afternoon for her mother Mrs. Alfred Jenkins. Others attending were the George Jenkins’ sons Roger Lee and Jerry Alfred Jenkins, Hllinor May Fincham, Mrs. Ora Payne and son Cary Michael and daughter Debra, all of Culpeper. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baker and children of Griffinsburg were Mr. and Mrs. George Bailey and Mrs. Willie Wagner of Rixeyville, Miss Rosie Kay Beahm of Winchester, Mrs. Keyser, Mrs. Fred L. Payne and son Cary and daughter Debra, all of Culpeper and Bill Baker of Winston. Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Walker and daughters Barbara and Donna Lee and son Donald of Clinton, Md. spent the long holiday week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hensley and family and Mrs. Gladys Schlosser and daughter Gladys. On Sunday the group enjoyed a picnic at the Pinnacles on Skyline Drive and a hike up White Oak Canyon.
