Skyline Ski Area Gets
Ready for Season
The Skyline Ski Area, Washington, Virginia's popular representative in the "Banana Belt" of skiing (below the Mason-Dixon line), has started preparations for the 1965 season. Key staff members are resuming their posts this month, including Robert T. Reid of Orange, executive Vice-Prest dent and General Manager; Sears Raymond of Sperryville, who heads the Skyline Ski School, as well as operating the Skyline Ski Shop, and General Foreman, Herbert "Humpy" Smoot. In announcing the start-up of operations for the new season, the President, Dr. Roswell S. Bowersett stated, "Last year was a very unusual and disappointing one for Eastern skiers. The Florida-like Christmas season delayed our full opening until well into January. February was also unseasonably warm. In spite of this, Skyline accommodated more skiers than it had the previous year. We are confident that a typical winter this year will bring in many new skiers to enjoy Skyline’s slopes in the beautiful Rappahannock County setting."
