People over 65 who are eligible for social security benefits but who haven’t applied for them because they are still working should get in touch with the nearest social security district office to apply as soon as possible. Even if they can’t collect right now because their current earnings from employment are too high for them to quality for benefits, they will be eligible for hospital insurance when it starts next July.
People over 65 who have never worked under social security--or who have not worked long enough to qualify for social security benefits — will need to apply for both hospital insurance and the voluntary medical insurance.

As a prevention against failure to receive VA compensation- or pension checks recipients are warned to notify the VA Office where their claims file is located when a change of address occurs. Changes of addresses made with the post office only may not continue the government checks beyond a brief period; therefore, it will eventually be necessary to inform the Veterans Administration of the, change. A change of address sent to the Treasury Depart-' ment or VA Disbursing Office does not always make a timely correction and in some cases does not provide the office having the claims file with the new address. This, again, may effect receipt of the check. To make a proper change of address with the Veterans Administration, either mail them a completed and signed VA Form 572, or direct a signed card or letter to them, identifying yourself by claim number or service serial number, and giving them the old and new addresses. In cases where the widow, dependent parent, or dependent child makes a change of address, be sure that the veteran is identified, not the dependent, as VA records do not file or index cases by the dependent’s name.
