Vicious weather has put Rap pahannock Race course in best ever condition. Says Oliver Durant, Chairman of the Race Committee, “Driving rains pummeled the snow-softened sod into a resilient turf, perfect for the point-to-point course surface. No amount of harrowing and rolling could have achieved as good results The Secretary of the Race Committee, Mrs. Anthony Slewka, reports that the num ber of spectator reservations is running far ahead of this time last year. “There’s every indication that this year the races will draw the biggest crowd ever to be seen at James W. Fletcher’s Thornton Hill near Sperryville, states Mrs. Slewka.
