In Tractor Accident
Robert L. Hickerson of Huntly was fatally Injured Friday afternoon when the tractor he was operating overturned on him and crushed him to death. Hickepson had gone out Friday afternoon to work up some fire wood in his mountain land. When he did not return home to do his night chores at the expected time his wife became concerned and called his brother who went in 'Search of him. The Ford tractor apparently reared up in front on the steep slope and over turned, pinning him between the seat and a large rock. Rescue squads from Front Royal, Flint Hill and Washington responded to the alarm and went as far as possible with an ambulance. However, the terrain was so rough it was necessary to transfer to a Jeep and then walk a quarter of a mile to reach the victim. He was carried out on a portable stretcher then by Jeep to the Front Royal rescue wagon which took him to Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal. Obituary inside.
