Beauty Pageant
More contestants are want ed for the Beauty Pageant which is being sponsored by the Rappahannock Jayceesand will be held April 1. A Jaycee spokesman said entries in the contest are not coming in as rapidly as they had hoped, especially those in the 18-28 age group. He went on to explain that young ladies who work out of the county and are only here on weekends or those who are attending college and will be home for the weekend are eligible to enter the beauty pageant. The contestants will be judged in four different groups as follows: ages 5 to 9; ages 10 to 12; ages 13 to 17 and ages 18 to 28. The winners of the 5 to 9 and 18 to 28 group will go to Richmond in May to compete in the state beauty pageant. Expenses for the trip to Richmond will be paid by the Jaycees and a chaperone for the contestants will be provided. A rehearsal for all groups will be held at the local high school on March 28 at 8 p. m. Contestants may enter themi selves or be entered by abusjh ness. Entry fee is $1 for each! candidate.
Virginia Symphony
Concert in Culpeper
The Virginia Symphony Orchestra will appear in concert in Culpeper on April 1! under the sponsorship of the Culpeper branch, American Association of University Women The orchestra’s founder-conductor, William Penny (lacker will conduct. The concert will be held in the auditorium of Ann Wingfield School and will begin at 8 p.m. Individual tickets are $2.00 each and will be available at the door or may be secured! from Mrs. H. B. Lacy, Mrs.: Thornton Stringfellow or Mrs. Charles W. Browning. Also available are family tickets at a cost of $4.00. This includes all members of! a family. Patron’s tickets are $ 10 each and include one ticket; and one symphony record. Pa-! tron’s contributions of $15.00: or more include two records in addition to a concert ticket.
