Winfrey, Principal of the Rappahannock County High School, has announced his retirement effective July 1 after forty-six years in the teaching profession. A native of Culpeper County, | Mr. Winfrey graduated from (the public schools in that court i ty. He attended Richmond Col! lege (now the University of Richmond) and the University of Virginia where he earned the Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Except for one year of teaching at the Jeffersonton H i gh School, Culpeper County, his educational career has been spent in Rappahannock. In 1919 20, he was teacher and principal of the Amissville High School and in 1920-23 served in the same capacity in the Sperryville High School. From 1923-25, he worked for the Southern railroad in Atlanta, Georgia. Following his work with the railroad, he returned to Sperryville where he served as principal until 1950.
