Washington High Schools were consolidated at Washington in 1950 as the Rappahannock County High School, Mr. Winfrey became the first principal of the consolidated facility. He is married to the former Mary Hart Willis of Culpeper who taught in the Sperryville and Washington Schools until her retirement in 1957. Mr. and Mrs. Winfrey make their home in Woodville where they operate an orchard. Winfrey is a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, Fairfax Lodge of Masons in Culpeper and the Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church, Sperryville. During World War I, he served with theU.S. Navy. He is the son of the late E. W. Winfrey who for many years was pastor of the Culpeper Baptist Church.
