Knitting Clast
A basic knitting class was held for five weeks at Washington Graded School under the direction of the County Arts and Crafts Committee and the Home Demonstration Office. Of the twelve women starting the class only, five received certificates. Two members of the group attended all of the classes and one member who missed two classes made them up at a later date. Classes ran from January 20 through March 3 and during that period the heavy snows prevented good attendance. Receiving certificates were Mrs. LillianAylor, Mrs. Ethel Bailey, Miss Patricia Bailey, Mrs. Mary Jordan and Mrs. Jeannette Pierce. Others attending were Mrs. Julie Bodie, Miss Margaret Carter, Miss Maude Roy, Miss Wanda Roy, Miss Donna Roy, Miss Anita Roy and Miss Arlene Freeman.
Mrs. Mary Cleverley was instructor for the course, which consisted of five two-houi sessions.
Mrs. Fannie Jackson of Sperryville recently went to the University of Virginia Hoa pital for a check up. She was accompanied by Mrs. Roberta Russell and Reuben Aylor. Mrs. Pauline Starks andfarrv ily of Washington, D. C., were the week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Majors at their home on 'Breeze Hill" Sperryville.
