A one percent county sales which will become effective in September was adopted by the Rappahannock 'County Board of Supervisors at'the June meeting on the 3rd. After an advertised public hearing at which no objection was voiced the Board passed the legislation.
The county Planning Commission forwarded a proposed zoning ordinance to the Board and recommended adoption of the same. Before action can be taken on the ordinance a public hearing advertised in advance must be held. This hearing is scheduled for the July meeting of the Board which will be held Friday, July 1, at 10 a.m. The county budget, previously published was adopted with the levy at $3.80. The levy was not increased from the previous year. However,estimated sales tax revenue was considered when the budget was tentatively set up. O. A. Norton, Superintendent of Schools, reported that Literary Loan funds for the addition to Rappahannock County High School will be released according to schedule. The low bid on the construction of the addition which will consist of four rooms and a shop was $143,000. Mr. Norton requested authority to apply for an additional $35,000 from the Literary Fund for completion and furnishing the addition. This was passed by the Board.
