Miss Jean Fairbanks Merrill is making quite a name for herself in the literary world. She is the niece of Mr. L. V. Merrill and visited often here as a child. Although she was brought up in Webster, N.Y. she now lives in Manhattan. She writes books for young people which have been used by the New York School system and a number have been chosen by “The Book of the Month* clubs for junior readers. The Push Cart War is her current book which is being sought by two big movie companies as well as a theatrical producer. Other books to her credit are The Superlative Horse, a Chinese story, Shan’s Lucky Knife, a Burmese folk tale and High Wide and Handsome, a story about animals.
