eariy Rappahannock was the theme, and this year a show of textiles, arts and crafts of another part of the world will be seen. Indonesia has a long and impressive history in the arts and crafts dating centuries be* fore Christ. These textile designs are among the finest in the world. Like most oriental countries, Indonesia was influenced by the great sculptural art of the monumental period of Indochina in the centuries B.C. This was followed by Hindu religious influence which lasted well into the golden age of Indonesian culture, and probably was responsible for the distinctly religious character of her arts to the present time. Today western influence is very marked and the old arts are giving way to painting, sculp ture and design after the west : It is becoming increasingly important that the people of Rappahannock support the county library. Most counties through the nation include their libraries in their tax budget in addition to aid from the state. We need to recognize the necessity of supporting our library through substantial and continuous cpntributlons. A table of good books, and maps will be on sale during the exhibit.
