John Walker Jenkins
Named New Deputy
Sheriff Charles K. Estes, has announced the appointment of John Walker Jenkins of Sperry ville, as the new deputy for the Sheriff’s department. His service will become effective tomorrow, July 1. A full time deputy was approved by the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors at their March meeting. Mr. Jenkins will serve in addition to Deputy Ernest Lillard who also act6 as Jailor.

The "From-Far-Away” shop opened by Mrs Maurice Biddle in Sperryville last summer has a new name and a new look. The shop, located in the cabin on route 211, formerly owned by Charles H. Estes, has become ‘THE SUTLER'S CABIN". The combination of the picturesque little log cabin. the County’s historical atmosphere and Colonel Biddle’s military background led to the idea of the name “Sutler's Cabin.” The Sutler was the forerunner of today’s military Post Exchange - he was
