Medical Identification Bracelets for Veterans
An emergency medical identi fication bracelet, or necklace, is now being issued to veterans with serious medical problems. The identification bracelet is issued on the prescription of an attending Veterans Administration physician.
The object of the new identification bracelet is to provide information to medical personnel for treatment of the veteran should he become unconscious by accident or sudden illness. Such information will include special needs of the veteran patients, such as heart pacemaker, or the patients’ reaction to certain drugs. Diabetes and epilepsy also will be identified. The Veterans Administration Department of Medicine and Surgery supply service is making initial distribution! of the bracelets,, and necklaces, to all Veterans Administration hospitals and. clinics. They will be furnished] to all veterans, who have need) for them, whether the dis-j ability is either service connected or nonservice connected.
Edward M. Mathews, of the Front Royal Office of the Division of War Veterans’ Claims, is in Washington at the Clerk’s Office on 1st and 3rd Monday from 2 to 4 p. m.! and will gladly give more details on this subject or any other matter connected with veteran’s affairs.
