My West Coast Trip

By Billy Payne

We left home July 16, 1966 at 3 p.m., arrived in West Virginia at 5, in Maryland at 5; 15, and believe it or not, we were in Pennsylvania at 5;19 p.m. Continuing a short while we came to the Allegheny Mountain Tunnel which was a mile and two-fifths long. Our first night was spent in a motel ten miles from the Ohio Turnpike where we stopped at 9:22 p.m. We embarked at 8;50 a.m. the second day and were on the Ohio Turnpike headed for ???? Sorry folks, we’re going the wrong way. However, after a few cuts and turns we finally got straightened out and were on the way ! to Lake1 ' Hrie. While at Lake Erie, we visited Cedar Point, an amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, then continued on and spent that night in Michigan. (More next week). ~ Smokey Says: ~
