Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell Weakley and Mrs. Robert Weakley and children Yvonne and Corrina of Culpeper, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Latham of Fredericksburg, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Martin of Viewtown and Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Printz, Mr. and Mrs. William Printz and daughters Brend a and Charlotte and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Jenkins, all of Amissville.

Agricultural engineers at Virginia Tech have instrumented watersheds in Bedford, Brunswick, Culpeper, Floyd, Halifax, Louisa, Montgomery, Page and Pulaski counties to study runoff from such areas. The watersheds vary in size from 182 acres to more than 3000 acres, says J. H. Liliard. Rainfall amount and distribution over the watersheds is also recorded. Wide variations in runoff rates and amounts have been noted. Runoff from the Pulaski County watershed, for instance, measured only 4 inches per year on the average. In nearby Floyd County, average yearly loss is 20 inches--equivalent to half the annual rainfall!
