ine irameworK ior states in the Eastern Dove Management Unit permitted a season totaling 70 half days between the outside dates of September 1 and January 15. This season could be split into 2 or 3 segments with no loss in the number of shooting days. The later opening date was selected to more nearly coincide with agricultural harvest practices which concentrate the birds and to lessen the possibility of shooting birds with young in the nest. A rail and gallinule season beginning September 9 (Friday) and extending through November 17 was selected to coincide with predicted high tides occurring at the beginning and end of this period. A daily limit of 15 and a possession limit of 30 for all species combined was established.
Woodcock season was set to open November 21 and close January 9 with a bag limit of 5 daily and 10 In possession. Snipe season will also be open during this period with a daily bag limit of 8 and a possession limit of 16. Seasons on ducks, geese and brant are expected to be set about mid-August after the mi, gratory waterfowl season framework is received from the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
