Franklin Payne of Culpeper downed this black bear on a hunting trip November 26 in Harris Hollow near Washington. The animal weighed about 150 pounds. He was hunting with his father, Luther Payne of Washington, on the John Marshall Clark farm. Luther Payne bagged a deer the same day.
