Well, our first basketball game came and went up in a cloud of sadly grayed smoke. The final score was Montevideo 65, Rappahannock 39. (Box score on front page). There was a lot of encouragement for the boys from the rest of the student body. At a pep rally held Friday afternoon everyone backed up the cheerleaders with yelling, clapping and general good support of the players. Later, a bus load of 63 students attended the game. The cheerleaders all turned out in their new blazers and uniforms to give a good performance, also. Thursday eighteen members

Tuesday , December 13 a training meeting will be held for those interested in the January Home Economics Extension program of "stltchery - including Crewel and Cross Stitch." Representatives from organized groups are invited. It will start promptly at 2 p. m. - Washington Baptist Church. December 14-16 - 4-H Club meetings at Rappahannock Sr., Washington and Scrabble.

*ttk•****••★** Make your own candied peel to use in Christmas baking. It's easy to do and you'll find it more economical too. Grapefruit, lemon and orange peels can all be prepared by using this recipe. 2 grapefruits 8 lemons 4 large oranges 1 c. sugar \/2 c. water 2 T. light corn syrup Wash fruit. Score peel into fourths and pull off sections. Place peel in saucepan with enough cold water to cover. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Drain peel. Cover with fresh cold water; bring to 2nd boll and boil 40 minutes. Drain; remove white membrane from peel. Cut peel into uniform strips. Combine 1 c. sugar, 1/2 c. water and syrup in saucepan. Boil until thick (228 degrees on candy thermometer). Add peel and cook until peel becomes transparent. Drain peel in colander or coarse sieve. Spread on wax paper to cool. Roll in granulated sugar to coat completely. Store in airtight container. Makes about 3/4 lb.
