Economics of corn silage production is the theme of a one day Farm Management School to be held at Hampton Inn just west of Washington on 211 on Wednesday, March j 1 for Rappahannock farmers. ; According to Extension Agent, W. H. Lyne, beef production is the leading livestock enterprise in Rappahannock County. In 1964 value of all livestock and livestock products sold was $942,888. This gross can be increased by an estimated $320,000 by 1975 through improved management cultural land harvesting practices of
[forage crops produced and used for livestock feed.
Farm census data shows Rappahannock farmers inIcreased acreage of corn harvested for silage in the last ; five year period 100%. This, | Lyne says, is a healthy trend in the economics of our beef cattle industry, however much j greater economic, strides can be taken by farmers if they wish to increase their net incomes.
