“This is Your Land" Will be the theme of the 1967 Wild life Week observance sched- ; uled March 19-25, according to Ernest J. Foldi and John i D. Tyler of the Virginia Wild- j life Federation, Wildlife Week C o - Chairmen f o r Virginia. Public awareness, use and protection of recreational lands will be stressed during the week and throughout the i
year. With over 2 million j acres of public recreation! lands at their disposal, Vir- j ginians should have a vital interest in what these lands have to offer and how they are managed. Most public lands are now managed on a multiple use basis where a great variety of non-conflicting recreational uses are permitted. As the population of the nation and Virginia swells at art unprecedented rate and demands for outdoor recreation facili ties increase, experts foresee an increasing need for more acreage and more detailed planning in the development >f existing areas. The goal of the 1967 Wildlife Week observance will be to arouse an interest among our citizens in these lands they own. All persons should be aware of the historical, educational and recreational experiences these lands have to offer. Those who use these lands should treat them with the respect they would show 'or their own property, since In reality they are part ownNational
Wildlife Week has seen sponsored annually by the National Wildlife Federation and its state affiliates 3ince 1938. Personnel of the Commission of Game and Inand Fisheries and other state ind federal land managing igencies will be assisting Vir5inia Wildlife Federation representatives with the 1967 campaign.
