Stokes New BCIA President: A. Y. Stokes, Charolais breed er of Sperryville, was elected president of the Virginia BCIA at its annual meeting held last week at Natural Bridge in conjunction with the Virginia Beef Cattleman’s Association. Congratulations Allen! Among the changes made in the Stand ard Operating Procedure of the latter organization was the addition of •recorded" Charolais bulls as approved sires of calves for organized feeder sales. Mr. Stokes reported the Virginia Charolais Association is planning its first organized feeder calf sale to be held at Madison Livestock Market October 27. Rappahannock cattlemen who likely will consign to this sale in addition to Mr. Stokes are: Mr. Homer Henry of Castleton and Mr. H. L. Manwaring of Woodville.
*** J. Rodes Brown, James E. Yates and your scribe represented Rappahannock Angus Feeder Calf Association at the Cattleman’s Convention. Full details of this Convention will be reported at the annual meeting of the Rappahannock Angus Feeder Calf producers now being planned. For the present suffice it to say considerable change is taking place in many phases of the beef cattle industry. Bob Chilton of Jeffersonton was elected President of the Virginia Cattleman’s Associa tion and is director representing sales of this area.
