The Front Royal Oratorio Society will publicly present a program of sacred music on Palm Sunday, March 19th at the Front Royal Presbyterian Church, eight o’clock in the evening. Mr. Ronald Johnston, minister of music and education at the Front Royal Baptist Church, will be the guest conductor. Accompanist will be Mrs. Helen Cunningham Smith, organist for the Cal" vary Episcopal Church, Front Royal. The service of music will include Christ Lay In Death’s Dark Prison, an Easter Canta ta, by Johann Sebastian Bach.: This work well illustrates! Lift Up Your Beads, O Ye Gates" - Psaln* 24:7-10 and “Worthy is the Lamb That Was Slain*Miss Judith Curfman, director of music and educational assistant at the Front Royal Methodist Church will sing the soprano air “I Know That My Redeemer Liveth” also from The Messiah. Well known for her outstanding contribution to music in this area, this will be Miss Curfman’s last performance with the society before leaving her Front Royal position in June. Front Royal’s forty-four voice choir was formed in 1960 and officially organized in 1962. For the past three years, two programs have been offered annually to the public in the spring and in the fall. President for the Oratorio society is Mrs. Ver non L. Manuel.
