Ion recital beginning approximately three-quarters of an jhour before sunset and followed immediately by a non-denominational sunset Vesper service sponsored by the Vesper Service Association. These vespers, held on the tower lawn, present speakers of national reputation, music on the carillon, and special music by soloists and groups. In addition, a special recital will be given for a sunrise service, Easter Sunday, March 26th. Charles T. Chapman has been carillonneur oftheLuray Singing Tower since it was dedicated in 1937. Mr. Chapman is world renowned and recognized as one of America's greatest carillonneurs. His most recent honor was that of playing the dedication recital on the new carillon at Yale University. The Luray instrument is a genuine carillon of 47 bronze bells, the largest weighing almost four tons. It has created widespread interest among mu sicians and composers. Over 100 compositions by 20 American and foreign composers have been written especial ly for Mr. Chapman.
